January 13 - church, school, museum

We left the hotel at 9:30 am to visit the Churches of St. Maria Gloriosa dei Frari and Scuola Grande di San Rocco (pictures are not really allowed - but you can get a picture or two if you are careful). While there we were looking at the works of Titian and Tintoretto. In between the first and second we enjoyed traditional Venetian cookies to keep our strength up. Both buildings seemed as cold inside as outside, everyone’s hands were cold, taking notes was difficult, and you could see your breath even when inside. We broke for lunch and visited the Peggy Guggenheim Museum in the afternoon. The group was then split with half going to visit a real Venetian glass artist - who would make original creations just for us. Tomorrow is the mid-term and the other half will pay a visit to the glass artist.
