We left the hotel at 8:30 and again took the chartered bus to the Florence train station where we waited for our "reserved" car. As you can guess from the use of quotes, the car that was supposed to be for us didn't exist. So we had an adventure trying to get down to the open cars and get all our luggage aboard and find seats. It all worked out fine, but was very Italian.
When we arrived it was raining and we had to take a canal taxi to our hotel. Dr. Leopardi took the class on a little orientation walk, afterward we had the opportunity to take a break (or naps as the case may be) and rest before going out for dinner.
